Every year, either in June or July, people celebrate Festa Junina or Julina. This originally was a religious holiday, but is now celebrated as a holiday for fun. They decorate with colorful flags, dress in old country costumes (like Daisy Mae), play lots of games and eat lots of food.
On June 14, our "Grupo" celebrated their Junina holiday in the area outside of the garage "chapel." A lot of people came dressed has country bumpkins, watched kids play, and ATE! | Dennis and I were charge of the Fish Pond. It was the hit of the night, because of all the goodies and little toys the kids got. Long lines formed, as kids waited for their turns; and they returned over and over for more prizes. There was SOOO much candy! These people L-O-V-E their sugar!!! We wonder who paid for everything--there is no budget for the Grupo. . . |
