As a reward for the 217 baptisms in August, Elder Monteiro called a Super P-Day last Friday, September 5th, for the 200+ missionaries in the Brazil Curitiba Mission. We were up by 4:15 a.m., on the bus at 6:05, at the stake center in Curitiba by 7:45--early enough to help set up the 4 long tables of fruit and snacks for the morning. After a short congratulatory meeting, everyone changed into their play clothes and enjoyed several hours with basketball, volleyball, touch football, foosball, table tennis, chess, checkers, dominoes, UNO and other card games, various group games, and 3-4 movies. A huge lunch at noon and a hotdog meal were provided at 3:00. Whoa! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, doing whatever they felt like doing until 4:00. Then they dutifully changed into their "work" clothes and left for their assigned areas, happy and very, very full. Dennis and I mostly enjoyed watching, chatting with Pres. and Sister Monteiro and the young missionaries, and taking pictures. Then, we called a taxi and left for Hotel Alvear in downtown Curitiba, where we met the Larry and Kay Brown to celebrate our 45th anniversary and their 44th anniversary (see the next post, above).
